An update! I'm still alive! I just looked and I haven't published in a month. That's ok, I saw an article in the NY Times that said there's millions of unused, abandoned websites out there, mostly blogs, that haven't been updated since they were invented. So I'm ok.
We went to Jamaica a couple of weeks ago. Loved it, really. It's different. We went to a nice resort, right on the coast at the cruise ship dock in Ocho Rios. We couldn't leave the resort to go down the street to shop. The people were all over you when you do that. If you go with a small group, great, you'll probably be fine. A couple alone is just a target. I hated that part of it.
The place is beautiful, with huge mountains right next to the ocean. It's like that everywhere, as far as I could tell. We went in at Montego Bay, and took a bus to the resort. The out-trip was about two hours. The back trip was almost four. There is a bridge under construction on the main highway, and it was open when we got there, closed when we left, so the bus from the resort had to take the only other main paved road, which really showed the true Jamaica. It went from Falmouth to Montego Bay, which took thirty minutes on the out trip. That detour on the return trip took 2 hours. Right through the heart of the rural area. Jamaica is not flat. It is mountainous. There are houses straight up above the highways. There are large fields that look like the same thing I saw in the mountains of North Carolina, except with coconut palms. It was wild. Linda had a great time. I was really sick right up until the plane left, and a month later, my ears are still having problems. It's been rough. I'm back.
