Well, I'm in it now and I'm in it good. My wife totally suprised me for Christmas. I accidentally discovered that she had paid money to the local university. I assumed that she had done something really thoughtful, like signing me up for a creative writing class. That's something I had talked about before, and I assumed that she had remembered, thoughtful person that she is, and signed me up. No. She has signed me up for a comedy writing class. I spend seven weeks working with a comedy writer, working up material. I spend the last night actually doing standup in a comedy club. I have not been this excited about something in a long time. I cannot stop thinking about it. I was doing the routine in the shower this morning while I was washing my hair. I have thought about it all day. I don't know if I'm excited about the idea of doing this, or already afraid I'll bomb. Actually, I went throught all of those thoughts this morning. I have already decided that, no matter what, when I get there I'm going to enjoy the moment. How many people get to do this? It's a fantasy-camp thing, just like some middle-aged stockbroker going to baseball camp. Except that I don't have to be in good shape, and I'll enjoy it more than some overachieving bastard. Wooo-hooo! Thank you, honey! I'm so excited that I'll never sleep for days!
