I'm starting this at 2:20am. I cannot sleep. I got a slime-o-gram from my sister that I read right before I went to bed a couple of hours ago, and I have tossed and turned since. So I guess her snide-mail did its job. That alone pisses me off. I found out last week, in the middle of the week, that my wife will have the chance to be off any week in July. My family in North Carolina are all planning to go to the beach. We've done this before, rented condos and split the cost. I miss my nephews, and it's a chance to see them for a few days. I called my other sister, Glenda, the Good Witch of the East, to find out if they had finalized their plans. Turns out that they had planned on the end of June, but the boys' mom (these are my brother's kids) wanted them to go to church camp that week, so they were having to change to another date. One of the dates was in July, so I told her to let me know if they went then, and that we might go, if the condos could be worked out. The date worked out. But during the interim, my wife and I discussed the trip. We want to sell our house, and the money for the trip would definately come in handy toward fixing this dump up. Plus, this for us is a last-minute thing, since the time off had come out of the blue. Also, if ew went, the cost to my sister and brother, and mom, would go up. In other words, it would cost them more for me to go to the beach with them. So I told the Good Witch thanks for thinking of us, but we would decline. So the Wicked Witch of the West sends this email. She won't tell the nephews that we aren't going, I need to do that since they'll be so disappointed after they all changed their dates so we could go. In fact, she shouldn't have told them at all. I don't know why this type of thing should upset me, especially coming from her. But the implication that the vacation was changed for us is just untrue. It so happened that this all came about at the same time, and they had two possible dates to use. The July date got picked. I had nothing to do with that. And as to the telling the nephews thing, why she told them something that had not been decided, and to which she was not party to discussion, is beyond me--other than it gives her great ammunition to fire at someone who's just not doing what she thinks they need to be doing.
