We had a lot of rain here in the last couple of days. There was a minor flood about 100 yards from the house yesterday, at the height of Ivan's trip through Atlanta. I had to drive about three miles to get around the water. As tough as that was, check this out to see some real flooding. These were taken in the mountains of North Carolina, in my old stompin' grounds. I either lived or visited in almost all of these places at one time or another. I remember being in floods when I was in college at App State. I used to live on State Farm Road, next to the river, and I remember when the National Guard had to come and get my neighbors out of their house in 1977. I had forgotten how a major rain event can wreak havoc in the mountains. And these pictures are of what happened during Frances. The Ivan flooding is going to be worse.
