Oh, god of the posts, let them flow freely through my fingers and land gracefully and fully armed in the chaos and beauty that is the Internet. Just kidding, I don't really worship here.

I had a really shitty day. Actually, it wasn't the day that was so shitty, as much as the ending of my work day, when I found myself second-guessed by one of the people who is my immediate superior on the hierarchy of my workplace. I will not use the term 'boss.' I didn't agree with everything he did, but the fact that he did it and then went to the person with the store manager title, knowing he will tell him that I was failing, sent me into a nervous fit so bad that I almost drank. I love to drink, don't get me wrong, but I never do it when I'm really, really upset.

So instead, I cooked. I made scampi fra diavolo, a tremendously good shrimp dish with hot peppers, an onion-and-tomato marinara sauce, and white wine, that takes three pots and an hour to fix. I had planned on doing it on Sunday, so all of the ingredients were there already (we ate bologna and cheese sandwiches Sunday, woohoo) . Scampi fra diavolo is one of the first dishes I ever learned to cook in a restaurant, when I was an assistant chef. I love it, and I haven't made it in a while. It was perfect. I had some fresh basil to put in the marinara, and some fresh serrano peppers for the shrimp. Plus, I had my brand-new set of pots that we bought this weekend. I whipped up some rice and viola, I had a great meal, and enough time for some of the edge to wear off.

If I were younger, I would definately go into the personal chef business. If these guys at work don't let up on me soon, I may not have a choice. Oh, well, the stress level will drop.

Gotta go! 24 is coming on!
