I’m not being very productive right now as a writer. Hey, what the hell, I only decided I was a writer a week or two ago. Such pressure I put on myself! However, I have to get on with it. I asked Linda for a book for Valentine’s Day, the Writer’s Market. It contains a zillion references to publishers and periodicals. I am working on my creative writing class. I’m working the supplemental material the instructor suggested. It’s going to be a process, and I realized that. At the same time, I don’t have all my life to get this done. I want it now, but I don’t want to put the work in. It’s like I said in the discussion area of my class (it’s an online class, with a discussion room for each week’s lessons), I think that I expect to think about it for a while and have a full-grown novel spring forward from my head. I don’t think so. But I’m a little lost as to which way to turn right now for guidance. I’ll figure it out, but not without trepidation. Again, I don’t mind that, but I want to avoid as much of that as possible. I intend to get the instructor’s book on magazine articles. I think that’s the genre I want to spend some time on, because I don’t think I have the time commitment to put into a real, live book. At least not yet. When I become a famous magazine-writer-guy, watch out.
