Welcome to Wednesdsay night. I am waiting patiently for Friday to arrive. Most people are. In my case, it's because I will find out bright and early that morning what may be in the biopsy. My regular reader (that's you, Robin) will recall that I have a large burn of incredible origin on my back. It's a fluoroscopy burn, of all things, and it has a large lump in it. See previous posts. Waiting for the result of this test has not been on my mind. In fact, the people who know me have been amazed that I am "so calm." That's because their imaginations are running wild with possibilities. Mine has stayed put. I guess it's because I realized that whatever happens, this test is not the end of it. Sure, the test may come out great, and all I have is a lot of scar tissue. Could be worse. Either way, finding out will not be the last thing. If everything is all clear, there is still the issue that my back is melting away. What to do next? I have to deal with all that, so freaking out over the result just really hasn't been an option. Also, I don't freak. Been through congestive heart failure and two blocked arteries, rookies, so it takes a little to freak me. But, of course, I have thought about it. Thinking about it has not consumed me. I have not lain awake at night. I have had a few pensive moments where I thought about how short life is, however long you have it, but no other great ideas have been birthed by this ordeal. I am in wait and see mode, and intend to stay there for a while. I have been writing again, which is hopeful. I have been kicking around an idea for a short story, could be something longer someday. It's about a few kids who fall into kidnapping the neighbor's dogs as a summer job. It was inspired by a handwritten poster stuck on the stop sign in my neighborhood, offering a reward for finding someone's pet. I do not know if the pet was ever found, or if anyone claimed the reward. I just thought it was a cute idea. I am working out the first few pages, and then I'll decide. It may be crap. Dog crap. Hey, there's the censor rushing in again to stop me. Gosh, I sound like a real writer. I watched one of the best episodes of The Shield I have ever seen last night. That show rocks. It's violent, it's lewd, it's perverted, it's violent (really violent) and the only curse word never spoken is the f-bomb. Last night was exceptional. Walton Goggins plays Shane and Michael Chiklis plays Vic Mackey. Both of these guys have the acting chops to play the roles, and this episode brought a feud between the two former friends to a head when Vic thought that Shane had agreed to kill him. The standoff at the end of the film was one of the best pieces of television I have ever seen. The entire last thiry seconds was Vic deciding if Shane would live or die, with no words. I loved it. Enough. Back hurts, head hurts, gotta go to bed. I'll let you, my reader, know what happens. With words.
